Widgets

What is a Widget?

WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. An application, or a component of an interface, that enables a user to perform a function or access a service.

Examples of widgets would include: Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Kik, TikTok, Ziptio, Bitlife, Discord, Pinterest, Vsco, Google docs, Gmail, etc.

Below is a widget that adds a calendar with hyperlinks allowing a visitor to click a date and see the post from that day.
